BBYO Rallies for Maccabi World Union’s Emergency Campaign to Care for Evacuees from Southern Israel
Donate NowMaccabi World Union (MWU), the parent organization of Maccabi Tzair Israel, BBYO’s sibling movement in Israel, has transformed its headquarters campus (Kfar Maccabiah) in Ramat Gan, a suburb of Tel Aviv, into a major hub for Israelis evacuating Southern Israel. With an on-site hotel, convention center, sports club, and youth center, nearly 700 Israeli families, including hundreds of children and teens, are accessing shelter, meals, clothing, welfare services, rehabilitation services, childcare, and more until the situation in Israel subsides. Many are also families of wounded IDF soldiers undergoing treatment at nearby Sheba Medical Center.
As Maccabi Tzair/Maccabi World Union are a central part of BBYO’s global Movement (and vice-versa), it is personally important for us as Alephs, BBGs, BBYO supporters, and as Jews worldwide, to stand by our Israeli family’s response efforts at this crucial time. BBYO’s international teen leadership united to make an initial allocation of $18,000 from the International Service Fund, BBYO’s teen-led treasury.
Beginning Wednesday, October 18, BBYO’s teens will launch a global fundraising campaign to support MWU’s efforts on the ground. It will cost MWU approximately $60,000 USD per day to provide all the services the evacuees need. Maccabi Tzair Israel chapters throughout Israel are volunteering at Kfar Maccabiah, and will soon begin to offer sport, recreational, and rehabilitation services to youth and children throughout the country as conditions allow.
Our Jewish Brothers, Sisters, and Siblings in Israel need our help today. This is when AZA, BBG, and BBYO shines the brightest. Let’s get to work!
Because gifts are being given to MWU directly, we’re asking leaders to help track contributions (screenshots of donations, emails, or text messages to confirm gifts) so we can highlight all participating communities.
If you, your chapter, or your community fundraised for another organization to help Israel at this time, we want to hear about your success and celebrate it! Let us know the details by emailing azabbg@bbyo.org. We hope you’ll join us in this campaign effort, too.
We're directing all funds to our trusted partners at Maccabi World Union. Maccabi World Union is a registered charity in many countries including the United States of America and Canada, and an acknowledgement note for tax purposes is easily available.
