For two weeks in July, I had an incredible time attending Ambassadors to Argentina with friends from Argentina, Colombia, France, and the United States. It was so special to share my community, Buenos Aires, with everyone.
During our time in Buenos Aires, we spent a lot of time getting to know one another through icebreakers and games. We really got to know each other during our first Shabbat at Hebraica (a JCC in our community) where we had a one-day camp. Teens from BBYO Argentina joined our group to have fun, discuss Judaism, and show everyone what a traditional Argentine weekend looks like. The weekend also included a homestay with families from our community. It was a meaningful experience for everyone.
During the Ambassadors trip, we also traveled to Iguazu Falls, which is part of the largest waterfall system in the world. We spent the day in a boat and walking around the area—it was truly an adventure. The rest of the week, we hit many of the tourist sites in Buenos Aires.
We spent our final Shabbat together at Libertad Synagogue. We enjoyed a traditional Argentine dinner while sharing stories, playing, and connecting about Judaism. It was such a pleasure to host so many community members in Argentina for this Ambassadors program. I can’t wait for everyone to come back and visit.
Kiara Matzkin is a proud BBG from BBYO Argentina.
