Some people think BBYO is just a weekend hangout, but to me, it is so much more. BBYO serves as an opportunity to collaborate with people you don't see at school every day. It lets you cultivate new friendships with people who “don't match your personality.” It gives you unique opportunities that you don't get in school.

Every weekend, I leave my High School bubble and hang out with unique personalities from over 6 high schools. Through activities like frat nights, potluck dinners, spirit circles, elections, business meetings, separate programs, and so much more, I have made lifelong connections and unbreakable bonds.

So, next time you go to an event, don't just think of it as “another hangout.” I encourage you to buy into the event. Scream the chant louder than the guy next to you. Vote against legislation when you don't think it's a good idea. You only have four years in BBYO. Make them last.
