With IC just around the corner, it may be overwhelming to think about all the “what ifs”, especially if you’ve never been before. IC is unlike anything else I’ve experienced, and it’s understandable to feel like you’re taking in a lot at once. After 2 international conventions myself, and having experienced a similar feeling, I decided to create this resource guide to go to when various needs arise throughout your time at IC. Feel free to come back to this during IC if you need something and don't know where to go.
- Staffed with a team of medical professionals, the Wellness Center is the place to go if you don’t feel well at IC. From Advil for a headache to a rapid COVID test, they’ll take care of you in the event that you feel sick, and they’ll do their best to make sure you get better and back to enjoying IC!
- IC is a lot for people who get overwhelmed or overstimulated easily. The Quiet Room is a great place to go if you need to take a break from the noise. There are dim lights, comfy chairs, and fidgets to calm you down. Plus, one of the many Wellness Specialists that you’ll see wearing red vests at IC will be stationed there if you need someone to talk to. They are also around the convention center at all times and are a great resource for mental health while at IC.
- The biggest rule of the Quiet Room is that it must remain silent. If you want to take a break with friends, try the Zen Zone. It’s still a chill and relaxing environment, but there are frequent casual programs such as bracelet making or meditation that allow you to reset before reentering the excitement. You’re able to hold quiet conversations as long as you don’t bother others.
- The Welcome Center is your one-stop shop for most logistical needs at IC. Visit them if you need a new name tag or room key, check out the lost and found, or confirm or edit your travel information.
- The IC App is home to TONS of important information. You can find a complete daily schedule ahead of time, which is super helpful for looking forward and planning your day. You can also view the shuk offerings, order your late-night food, and look at a map.
- Lastly, all the staff at IC are there to help you! Staff can be found in blue vests all over! Ask any of them for help navigating the hotel or any other IC questions! They’ll either help you or direct you to someone who can!
I hope you find these resources helpful! Have a great time at IC 2024!
