Midterms and finals are by far some of the most stressful parts of the school year. So how do you balance studying, sleeping, eating, BBYO, and everything else during the midterm season?

Sleep: Make sure you’re getting enough sleep each night. If you know you have a midterm starting at 8 a.m. the next day, maybe it’s a good idea to get off Tiktok at 10 p.m. instead of 11 or 12. It’s also a good idea to start studying earlier in the day so you don't end up studying late into the night.

Study Time: As always, it’s super important to prepare for an upcoming exam, but I’ve noticed it’s easier to take it one step at a time. This means instead of overwhelming yourself with every exam the week before, study in the order of the tests you are taking. It’s a much smaller pill to swallow when you take it piece by piece!

Eating: Make sure to take a break and eat every once in a while. It’s extremely grounding to have a nice family dinner after a long time studying. Also, you can break up studying by grabbing a snack. If your brain isn’t fueled, you’ll have a harder time focusing and retaining what you are studying.

BBYO: BBYO is a place where you can go have fun, so make sure you get a break to hangout with your friends. If you’re on a committee and have tons of BBYO calls it’s important to time them based on when your easier exams are or after exams are over.

Schedule: My best tip is to make a schedule of when each midterm is and color code it! Spend more time focusing on the exams that will be harder for you and less time focusing on easier ones. Color code them based on level of difficulty so you know when and how much to study.

Athletics: As a student and athlete myself it is hard to juggle both, especially if you're coming home super exhausted. My best suggestion is to go to your sport after school and utilize it as a break. After your sport is over, come home and shower and then get straight into studying. It can be a long day, but remember midterms aren’t forever and you only have to get through one test at a time!

I hope these tips are helpful!
