Life has a tendency to become overwhelming in a short amount of time. We get frustrated with school work, extracurriculars, and many other stresses. In all the stress, we forget to take care of ourselves. To get all of our overwhelming tasks done, we need to make sure we’re in the right condition to complete them. Filling my cup is something that I focus on doing to put myself in the right condition.
Filling up your cup doesn’t have to entail a lot of time or effort. It can be gradual: small things that put a smile on your face. When doing homework, giving yourself breaks is a must. You need to make sure you can focus fully to do your best work, but giving yourself something to do during these breaks might help more. Something such as getting a snack and a fun drink will replenish your brain whilst giving you something to look forward to.
Among all the stress, our rooms tend to match it. Our bed goes days without being made, and clothes pile up. A clean room may sound simple, but it can make all the difference. Decluttering our room can declutter our mind. A clean space can also motivate us to finish tasks and ultimately become more productive.
Filling up your cup is something simple, but effective. Whether it be snacks during studying breaks, cleaning your room, buying a new clothing item, or getting your favorite lunch, they all add up. The small things we do for ourselves are what help us remain diligent and motivated to complete daily tasks. Life can become overwhelming, but by taking care of ourselves first, the stress doesn’t seem as big to tackle.
