Here are some things I am most excited for as I count down the days until my first IC:
My favorite part of BBYO is all of the new friendships I have made. I’m a member of Summit BBG in the Nassau Suffolk Region, so all of the new friends I have made so far are other teens from Long Island. It has been so amazing to get to know so many new people that I wouldn't have met if it wasn’t for BBYO. On that note, I’m so excited to make friends internationally, and am looking forward to meeting my roommate and many other BBGs and Alephs from around the world!
2. FUN ACTIVITIES (SIGHTSEEING & LEADS)
I am beyond excited for all of the new experiences I will have at IC 2025! Two of the things I am most excited for are my Sightseeing and LEADS day activities. For LEADS, the activity I was assigned is called “Wild Leadership: Lessons from the Animal Kingdom.” This activity will take place at the Denver Zoo and I’m super excited to see all of the animals and learn more about them! On Saturday, everyone participates in sightseeing activities, all of which are off site. Some of the options were college tours, snow tubing, and the zoo. I chose snow tubing because I love snow tubing and I think that it will be super fun. I can’t wait to participate in all of these amazing activities!
3. SHABBAT
To me, Shabbat is one of the most meaningful parts of any BBYO convention and I'm super excited to see what it will look like on an international level. It’s so special to be surrounded by other Jewish teens, all chanting prayers and celebrating Shabbat together. An added bonus of course is that you get to spend time getting ready with all your roommates and take cute pictures together!
4. SEPARATES
Separates are a very important BBYO tradition. Separates helps members to feel involved in their BBYO communities, and to feel the support of those around them. I love separates, whether it’s with my chapter or region, and am looking forward to experiencing this special program with BBGs internationally!
5. IC PRESS CORPS
I am so excited to be a member of the IC Press Corps! I’m looking forward to writing about activities and events to showcase all of the amazing things IC has to offer! I will be responsible for writing 2 articles during IC. These articles can be about anything ranging from new experiences, to electives, to Shabbat.Making new friends, attending exciting activities, and Separates are just a few of the things I am most looking forward to at my first ever International Convention!
