Taking on the role of the Manhattan Region’s Regional Godol is something I’ve dreamed about for a long time, but stepping into the position after my sister makes it even more meaningful. She didn’t just hold this title; she shaped it. She built the region to new heights by crafting programs that brought people together, supported younger members, and created a regional culture people were proud to be a part of. Now it’s my turn, and I feel both honored and determined to continue what she started while making my own mark.

The past few years, I had a front-row seat to the energy and heart she poured into BBYO. I watched her stay up late planning events, writing speeches, and making sure every member felt included at all times. She set the bar high, not just in what she did, but in how she led with kindness, passion, and meaning. So when I was elected Godol, I felt a wave of emotions: excitement, pride, and yes, a little pressure. How do you follow someone you admire so much?

The answer isn’t to copy her. It’s to build on what she created. My sister taught me that leadership isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being present. It means showing up for your chapter, checking in on your members, and creating a space where people feel like they belong. That is exactly what I am doing this year.

I am bringing my own voice and personality to the role. While she focused on adding more creativity and energy, I am working on deepening traditions and structure. I hope to create more meaningful programs, build stronger brotherhoods/sisterhoods, and offer opportunities for members to step up and lead in new ways. I want BBYO to be a place where everyone, whether they’re a prospect or a senior, feels like they matter.

Taking over after my sister doesn’t feel like living in her shadow; It feels like continuing a legacy. I’m grateful for the path she paved, but I’m also ready to create my own. This isn’t just a new chapter for me. It’s a new chapter for my whole region.

Leadership isn’t about being the next version of someone else. It’s about being the first version of yourself. I’m ready.
