This winter, Neshama BBG made the decision to have an extra event due to the way the schedule fell. We decided to make compliment jars at the last minute. Only four people besides the 7 board members signed up. When I arrived at the event, I was a bit nervous; most of the other board members are older, and we are not very close. I was late and worried that I would feel out of place at the event. I went downstairs to find the board and three other members sitting in a circle on the floor. We began to decorate the compliment jars and got to talking. I was able to really connect with most of the other board members in a way that I am usually unable to during a regular event, where we are focused on talking to prospects and making sure everything goes smoothly. In reality, this night was the perfect board bonding night that we needed. That is part of the magic of BBYO. Even though things didn't work out how we had expected, I was still given the opportunity to share some of my favorite moments with the other board members. This was not only great because I was able to better connect with my co-members on the board, but we were also able to talk about school, upcoming events, and make adorable compliment jars!

Emily Cook is a BBG from Neshama BBG #794 in Hudson Valley Region and is a middle child.
