Going into my second year of BBYO, I decided I wanted to find other ways involved when I came across Press Corps scrolling through the ILN page. I never had expected to fall in love with it and want to apply to be on the team for a second year.
I was so excited when I found out I was going to be on the journalism team because I have always loved to write and I want to go into the field of communications when I’m older. Press Corps Journalism gave me a different perspective of storytelling in writing rather than making a news package.
Joining in on the first call I was super nervous and thought I wouldn't fit in but all the staff and hub managers were so welcoming and instantly I knew it was going to be a great year. Following this meeting call I was super eager to write my first article. My first article was about why to go on CLTC .
I learned so much from being on the Press Corps journalism especially writing for the IC team. It taught me how to go to a location and grab an interview and find a story within that place. The people on the team have also taught me tremendous amounts and I look up to all the members that are older than me.
This past IC, I got to meet so many of the other Press Corps members in person at the meetup and it was so amazing to go from seeing people behind a screen to actually getting to meet these people in real life.
You should apply for Press Corps because it is the behind the scenes that you don’t always get to see and to give you a sense of what the field of communications is like. The Press corps team has become like a second family with friends that will stay with me past the BBYO years.
