This Friday, the Alephs and BBGs of BBYO IC 2026 explored Philly through a variety of LEADS and AZAA/BBGG tracks. Each bus took teens to a new adventure, and I got the opportunity to participate in the figure skating track. We took a short trip to the UPenn ice rink with the teens participating in ice hockey, where we all took our seats and got to watch Olympic professionals perform their figure skating routines. These routines were truly incredible and SO impressive. We were lucky enough to get to learn different figure skating skills from them, as well as their coach.

We spent about an hour learning each step of ice skating, including skating backwards, spinning, and small jumps. We also split into different teams and competed to see which team learned better skills. After a conga line, dance, and time for free ice skating, everyone was able to relax and eat their lunch. Our time ice skating was not just fun, it helped us improve our skills and meet new friends along the way!

Next, we got to take an awesome walk through Philly to get to the track and field facility, and we saw the skyline and other sights of the city. At the track and field facility, we met up with the tennis team and got to listen to two amazing sports broadcasters. They gave incredible advice about finding your passion and career, while teaching us about sports commentary and television as a whole. Our day in Philly was so incredible, and we can’t wait for the rest of our weekend here!
