In the spring of 2021, I arrived at my best friend Ruby Comito’s (shoutout Northstar N’siah!) house for my induction into BBYO. As I stood in front of all the upperclassmen on a Zoom call, I could not have expected what was to come.

Joining BBYO was easily one of the best decisions I made in middle/high school. I have met some of my best friends, traveled the world, and created endless memories that will last for a lifetime. I would like to thank BBYO for the opportunities I was given to connect with Jewish teens around the globe, as well as the leadership skills I gained. From Press Corps to Council Board and everything in between, it has been a joy to serve as a member of this incredible organization.

To continue my thanks, I want to give a shoutout to BBYO Passport. If any of you have the chance to take a passport trip, do it. Just do it. Passport is an incredible way to meet other members of BBYO while seeing the sights of our people. I am grateful I was able to attend one of these trips and explore the world with BBYO. I made amazing memories and met amazing people. I would not trade that opportunity for anything.

On a more local scale, I would like to thank Mid-America Region: Northstar Council. Northstar, it has been a pleasure to serve on Council Board. Our council is unlike any other. I know the connections we are growing in M54 each week will serve all of us well in the future. To Alyssa, thank you for being the best advisor. Northstar is lucky to have your passion, knowledge, and hard-working attitude. Northstar is such a special group, and I know you guys will keep the legacy going strong for many years to come! #WeAreDreamers

And finally, Chabibi BBG #325. The chapter that brought me into BBYO and allowed me to find my place as a Jewish leader in our society. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for the chapter that welcomed me with open arms during such a crazy time. I will never forget all the amazing, crazy, and unique events I attended throughout the years, and the memories that never fail to make me smile. Serving in several board positions, this chapter has taught me how to be a leader for my peers, which I will always value.

BBYO, it has been an honor to be part of this organization. After a fun senior lives event and walking down memory lane, I have been continually reminded of why I even joined this organization in the first place. To be a proud Jewish teen and connect with other Jewish teens in the world. To all of the people who will continue in BBYO for the years to come, here is my advice. Take every opportunity. BBYO has a lot to offer, and the more you put in, the more you get out of it. Run for board, do a summer program, attend a convention, and just take advantage of everything you can do in BBYO. The future of this organization is up to you. Leave your mark.

For the very last time,

Submitted with undying love for Mid-America Region #001: Northstar Council and my heart and home, Chabibi BBG #325, I forever remain, Gabrielle Paige Hasko, a damn proud BBG.

Gabby Hasko is a BBG living in Wayzata, Minnesota and her favorite food is sushi.
