One day, I received a notification that read “You had been included in a group called Global Shabbat”. At that moment, I found the opportunity of being part of a unique experience had arrived. This took weeks of incredible planning, organizing, and Zooms. I had the amazing opportunity to be part of the process and learn how to organize this type of event.
At first, I did not understand much, but over time, I became more involved and got to know this proposal. As its name says, this event is about a Shabbat that every chapter of every region prepares based on one topic. This year was about a topic that can be seen from different perspectives: Hand In Hand.
In Argentina it was taken as Tikkun Olam, fixing the world. We had the opportunity to listen to Verena Boehme, founder of an organization called "Manos Verdes" whose mission is to generate environmental awareness and promote sustainable development. Many teens gave their opinion on these issues and many proposals arose for things that can be done on a day-to-day basis to help improve the world.
Then, we planted seeds so that, as they said, each of us can leave a track, because whoever steps strong, leaves a track. Beyond what you listen to and learn from this event, take it as an initiative to continue doing it. We finished our night with a famous Israeli food, Falafel.
This was an amazing night where we had the opportunity to learn and meet new teens from other chapters. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!
