Throughout my 4 years so far in BBYO, I have been able to see and experience the powerful role that music plays in shaping our times shared with one another. If you ask any member of this organization, they will most likely have at least a few songs that they associate with BBYO or the people within it, making those songs extra special. Here are my top 10 songs on my BBYO playlist.
1. All My Love - Noah Kahan
Noah Kahan seems to have a big part in so many regions within the international order, and his music as a whole not only brings me joy but serves as a reminder of BBYO, entirely. This song reminds me specifically of the love that I have for BBYO, and my CLTC friends, as I constantly played this throughout the 12 days.
2. Rivers and Roads - The Head And The Heart
For so many of us, the lyrics “My family lives in a different state,” resonate closely with us, and especially at CLTC, this song had the power to make anyone and everyone shed tears. CLTC gave this song a whole new meaning for me, and I grew to appreciate those around me at the time even more.
3. Better Together - Jack Johnson
Another fan favorite among my international friends and region, this song holds a special place in my heart, as it reminds me how other people can and have had a huge impact on my life, and how I am better and happier when I am surrounded by people that I adore.
4. Wonderwall - Oasis
Singing this song with my region at conventions is one of the highlights of my BBYO experience. This song is able to bring everyone together, to sing something meaningful, and signifies how much we mean to one another.
5. Lean On Me - Bill Withers
Considered a classic, this song embodies the members of each and every region: supportive, loving, and dependable. I know that I can always count on my BBYO friends whenever I need a good support system and or help with something that matters to me. We can be there for each other and help one another out, which is such a special thing.
6. Everywhere, Everything - Noah Kahan
This song makes me appreciate every place and every person, especially the ones that BBYO has exposed me to. For this, I am eternally grateful as I have opened up and explored new things, gaining valuable lessons from each and every experience.
7. Hold Each Other -
If any singular song takes me back to CLTC, it is this one. This song reminds me of the connection that is able to be shared between one another on summer programs, as well as the importance of it. We are able to form new long-lasting bonds, in such a short amount of time, and hold on to them for eternity.
8. Home - Phillip Phillips
To each and every member, BBYO is their home. It is a place of diversity, inclusivity, comfort, and pure happiness. We are able to express ourselves and form friendships that will last a lifetime. We are all so unique, yet brought together by one factor in this place we call home: Judaism.
9. One Day - Matisyahu
BBYO strives to be a peaceful and accepting environment, and when we are all together, we are able to block out all forms of negativity and be at peace. No matter what happens in our lives, BBYO will always be here and we can always turn to it when we need to.
10. Invisible String - Taylor Swift
The idea of this bond shared between one another even when we are far apart is exactly demonstrated in this beautiful song. Each and every choice we make leads us exactly where we need to be, just like how BBYO brings together many teens from many different places across the world.
